My Aunt Wore a Wedding Dress to My Wedding
Share
I honestly thought this was a joke until it happened to me. I got married last year and everything was goin amazing until my aunt showed up (LATE) to the ceremony wearing a literal full length white wedding dress (she’s never been married). Like a proper bridal dress. Lace. Floor length. The whole nine yards.
I was thinking at first maybe I’m overreacting, maybe I’m going mad, maybe it’s cream or pale pink, just an extravagant dress, but no, every single guest kept whispering about it. My bridesmaids were like wtf, my mum looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her (It’s her sister). And of course my aunt acted like nothing was wrong, just floating around all day, taking selfies, loving the day.
She even asked the photographer for “a few solo shots” outside, which is insane. I paid for that photographer to capture MY day, not her bloodyfake wedding moment.
Some guests thought it was funny and kept making comments like “wow you’ve got competition for the bride” - funny if I wasn’t so bloody angry. I smiled but inside I was boiling. My husband could see I was about to lose it and kept trying to talk me down.
I didn’t say anything to her on the day because I didn’t want to cause a scene, but honestly it ruined my mood. I felt like everyone was staring at her and not at me. People still bring it up when they talk about our wedding, that that was the star of the show, instead of remembering us and my ACTUAL wedding dress.
I just don’t get why people do this. She hasn’t apologised either, obviously, she just said she thought it was “a nice outfit.” I’ve barely spoken to her since, crazy cow.
