Never Pick A Last-Minute Bridesmaid

Never Pick A Last-Minute Bridesmaid

So, I (f24) got married last month and everything was going fine until this nightmare.

So my husbands brother had just started seeing this new girl. Like literally a couple months before the wedding. I barely knew her, none of my friends did either. But my MIL kept going on about “family” and how it would be nice if she was included. Against my better judgement, we agreed to make her a last minute bridesmaid so she wouldn’t feel left out.

From the start she was acting weird. Making snide comments about my dress being “a bit plain” and rolling her eyes during the photos. My mum told me she saw her taking selfies during the ceremony too, not even watching.

Then at the reception it just… blew up. People started telling me she was going round saying my husband was only marrying me because he felt “trapped.” She was apparently telling my friends she thought i was “too bossy” and he’d regret it. Excuse me?? We don’t even know her.

I went outside later and caught her crying to one of my bridesmaids saying she should “say something” to stop me making a mistake (what?). My bridesmaid told her to back off but she just wouldn’t shut up.

The worst part – she actually tried to grab the mic during the speeches. Like full on reaching for it when my dad was talking. He pushed her hand away and gave her a look that could kill. If he hadn’t stopped her I swear she would’ve stood there and announced that my marriage was a “mistake.”

I still feel sick thinking about it. She literally almost ruined the whole wedding, just for what? Attention? To feel important?

Now my husband’s brother is saying we “overreacted” and she’s just “excited and emotional.” I don’t care, she’s not welcome in my life again. I can’t even look at the photos without seeing her smirking in the background.

Honestly the biggest regret i have about the wedding is ever agreeing to let her be part of it. Not looking for advice, just trying to warn others. If you are unsure about a guests, don't include them!
